I have been tutoring high school and college students in math and physics for twelve years. During this time I've worked with a diverse group of individuals with many different learning styles. I've tutored students new to math and science as well as those doing more advanced coursework.
I very much enjoy tutoring and I find it extremely rewarding to see a student begin to understand and eventually master concepts which had previously seemed incomprehensible. It is a way for me to help others gain a measure of the enjoyment I get from science and math.
Some of my other interests are reading, watching movies, playing soccer and video games, rock climbing, and gardening.
Education
International Baccalaureate Diploma from Southwest High School in Minneapolis
Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison
Teaching Philosophy
I have typically done well on standardized tests (2210 on the SAT and completing six advanced IB tests to earn the diploma), but I find other qualities to be much more important in making a good tutor. I find being able to adapt to a specific student's learning style, being patient, and having a passion for the material are far more useful skills. All of these I've tried to apply and improve throughout my tutoring experiences.
